Chiropractic Care for Disc Herniation

Chiropractic Care for Cervical Disc Herniation

Cervical Disc Herniation

Cervical disc herniation occurs as weakened discs bulge or herniate, compressing or irritating a nerve. The compromised nerve can cause severe pain and other problems in the neck and mid-back, as well as the arms and/or hands.

Proper diagnostics, which commonly involve imaging (x-ray or MRI) and diagnostic evaluation of the uniqueness of the disc issue, is necessary in order to determine what course of care is recommended and most appropriate.

There are times where disc problems have progressed beyond what can be treated with Chiropractic techniques or even Atlas Orthogonal. We offer the non-surgical alternative of Spinal Disc Decompression. Unfortunately, there are times that surgery is the only alternative for disc-related problems.

Lumbar Disc Herniation

A lumbar disc herniation is a common injury that can affect any part of the spine. It can cause severe pain and other problems in the buttock, legs, and feet. A herniated disc occurs when the nucleus (inner portion) pushes through the outer wall. This herniation can result in a large bulge that can press against nearby nerve roots.

Symptoms vary depending on the location of the disc and the severity of the rupture. Some herniated discs cause no symptoms, and a person with this type of injury may not realize the disc is damaged. Most herniated discs occur in the lower back, where they can cause symptoms in the buttocks, legs and feet.

Proper diagnostics, which commonly involves imaging and evaluation of disc problems, is necessary in order to determine what course of care is necessary and most appropriate. There are times where disc problems have progressed beyond what can be treated with instrument-based chiropractic as well as Atlas Orthogonal. We offer the non-surgical alternative of Spinal Disc Decompression. Unfortunately, there are times that surgery is the only alternative for disc-related problems.
